

HAMPTON, N.Y. — Barry James Kenny Sr., 64, of Hampton, N.Y., died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at the Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, N.Y., following a brief illness.
Barry was born on July 3, 1946, in the Bronx, N.Y., the son of Francis "Frank" and Dorothy Marie (Gerrity) Kenny.
Barry graduated from the St. Helena's High School in the Bronx, N.Y., in 1964 and furthered his education at Iona College graduating in 1968.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam era, earning the rank of First Lieutenant prior to his honorable discharge.
Mr. Kenny married Angela Alfinito on March 4, 1972, in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
He was a former resident of White Plains, N.Y., and Anchorage, Alaska. Since the 1970's, Barry spent a considerable amount of time in Hampton, N.Y., prior to making it his home several years ago.
Mr. Kenny had been employed as the Vice President of Commercial Lines by the S.K.C.G Insurance Group prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church in Fair Haven and the Harley Owners Group, Adirondack Chapter in Fort Ann, N.Y., who became like an adopted family to him. He had also served the town of Hampton as a member of the planning commission.
Mr. Kenny loved animals, especially his dog, Charlie. He enjoyed riding his Harley, tinkering and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Kenny of Hampton, N.Y.; his daughter, Tara Hurley and her husband, Wes, of Long Island, N.Y.; his son, Barry J. Kenny II and his wife, Amy, of Queens, N.Y.; his identical twin brother, Brian Kenny of Hubbardton, Vt.; his three granddaughters: Kelsey Hurley, Lindsay Hurley and Olivia Hurley, and also several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven, Vt.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main Street, Fair Haven, VT.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Kenny may be made to a charity of one's choice. |
